1. About SCRA

The South Coast Residents Association (SCRA) is a community association representing residents and stakeholders in the South Coast region of Kenya.

SCRA's activities include community representation, environmental stewardship, development and planning advocacy, infrastructure and safety initiatives, stakeholder engagement, public participation and communication of matters affecting the South Coast community.

SCRA's published materials describe its role in protecting the character and environmental quality of the South Coast while engaging residents, developers, businesses, government agencies and other stakeholders.

2. Purpose of This Website

The website is intended to:

  • Provide information about SCRA and its activities;
  • Communicate Association notices, advisories and updates;
  • Share information concerning matters affecting residents and stakeholders;
  • Publish SCRA advocacy positions, memoranda and public statements;
  • Facilitate communication between SCRA and residents or stakeholders;
  • Provide information about meetings, consultations, initiatives and events;
  • Support community participation and stakeholder engagement; and
  • Provide information about the South Coast region and matters relevant to its sustainable development.

Such material represents the position, observations or advocacy of SCRA at the time of publication and should not automatically be interpreted as:

  • A statutory notice;

  • A professional certification;

  • A guarantee of any particular outcome.

SCRA regularly engages with government departments, regulators, security agencies, hospitality organisations, residents and other stakeholders. Its published roundtable documents demonstrate that the Association's work involves multi-stakeholder discussion and advocacy rather than the exercise of governmental regulatory authority.

5. No Government Authority

SCRA is not a government department, regulator, licensing authority, court or law-enforcement agency.

References on the website to NEMA, Kwale County Government, Diani Municipality, the National Police Service, KENHA, KURA, KPLC, NTSA or other public bodies are provided in the context of community engagement, information, advocacy or stakeholder coordination.

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as granting SCRA authority to issue licences, approvals, permits, enforcement orders or other statutory decisions unless expressly provided by law.

6. Events, Meetings and Community Activities

SCRA may publish information concerning meetings, roundtables, consultations, community initiatives and other activities.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • Publication of an event does not constitute an endorsement of every participant, sponsor or third-party service provider;
  • Event information may change;
  • SCRA does not guarantee attendance, availability, access or continuation of an event organised by another party;
